Women are much harder to tolerate the impact of alcohol. Numerous clinical studies have found that female alcoholics heart disease, cirrhosis, problems with the nervous system and other disorders, which leads to the appearance of the abuse of alcohol, are developing much faster than men.
In particular, the alcohol becomes dangerous during pregnancy. Because it suffers not only the woman’s body, but also the developing fetus. In the future, the child may manifest severe brain disease. In the most difficult situations there is fetal alcohol syndrome. It is a complex of symptoms that appear in children because of their alcohol abuse by the mother during pregnancy. These children often appear vices external bodies, they slowly develop and grow than their healthy peers.
In some situations, there is an increase in brain size, but brain cells, thus, much smaller than that of healthy children. Impaired function of neuronal brain cells in children with this syndrome leads to a variety of behavioral and cognitive disorders.
