This selected bibliography lists many of the published books and articles to which we referred in researching and writing this book. Of equal importance, however, were the letters, papers, and un-published memorandums in the files of the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in Washington, D.C., and the microfilm newspaper files in many of the nation's libraries. In many instances, the identifying information for specific memorandums and letters, as well as newspaper clippings, was incomplete. In such cases, we simply recorded the available data, which are included in the pre-ceding compilation of reference material. We have not listed these sources here.
