Herpes is not spread through the transfer of blood as it doesn’t live in your blood. The Herpes virus lives in ganglion (nerve cells). However during the first herpes outbreak, you should not donate blood.
If you are taking antiviral medication for herpes, you will however need to go off of it several days before giving blood.
