2012 International Harm Reduction Conference cancelled

Drug Abuse

Dear IHRA
Members,

Harm
Reduction International regrets to announce that the 2012 International Harm
Reduction Conference set to take place in Adelaide has been
cancelled.

Since
2007, our annual conference has been organised in partnership with the
Conference Consortium ().
Last week, the Consortium
informed us that they are unable to carry out their contractual agreements
pertaining to the staging of the Adelaide conference, and have cancelled all
related contracts associated with that event.

In this
context, Harm Reduction International has concluded that the only responsible
option available to us is to cancel the 2012 conference.

While the
reasons for
the cancellation are beyond our control, and beyond those of our
Australian partners Anex and AIVL, Harm Reduction International regrets any
inconvenience caused to our partners and delegates. We would like to thank
Anex and AIVL for their support and the work they have invested in the
conference.

Harm
Reduction International will be planning its next conference to take place in
2013.
