4. OVERVIEW ON SEIZURE METHODS
Nearly half of the drugs seized in the operations targeting illicit drug trafficking organizations, were seized in overall searches (Graphic-26). Narcotics Units in Turkey make successful risk analysis and profiling studies. Accordingly Turkish Units are successful in selecting the potential criminals using any means of transportation. Moreover Turkey takes prosperous results in the operations against drugs trafficking organizations and the above mentioned seizures were made during the searches.
Narcotic detector dogs are used to detect the concealed drugs in the operations targeting illicit drug trafficking organizations. The operations conducted with the narcotic detector dogs and the trainings given to the detector dogs are described in the Part titled Dog Training Center.
Narcotics Units use modem criminal investigative techniques in their fight against illicit drug trafficking organizations. Besides the reports received from the citizens, the number of projected operations was also increased in 2007 (Table-12).
