THREE men accused of conspiring to supply £3.5m worth of cannabis which had been smuggled into the country from Holland have been remanded in custody.
Keith Langton and Malcolm Masters, both from Redditch, and James Pratt from Walsall recently appeared at Warwick Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.
All three men were charged with conspiracy to supply cannabis resin and herbal cannabis.
They were among seven people arrested in a special police operation by Warwickshire and West Mercia police forces earlier this month.
Prosecutor Tom Schofield said it was alleged that 400 kilos of cannabis worth £500,000 was seized from a car when Pratt was arrested, with the rest of the £3.5m haul being found in another vehicle and at an address in Redditch.
The two forms of cannabis are believed to have been imported from Holland, and four other people were also arrested and are currently on police bail.
During the hearing an application was made for Pratt, 26 of Wolverson Road in Walsall, to be granted conditional bail – but that was rejected by Judge Richard Griffith-Jones.
He remanded Pratt, Langton, 28 of Goodrich Close in Redditch and Masters, 50 of Banners Lane in Redditch.
The case was adjourned for the prosecution papers to be prepared and served on the defence prior to a further hearing in July.
