Cannabis: Vaillant pushes the PS to the legalization
Drug Abuse
The issue of legalizing cannabis brand new surface! For over forty years, it haunts the political class. First favorite theme of the radical left and environmentalists, it has gradually won the Socialist ranks, although assisted by former Interior Minister, Daniel Vaillant.
The former top cop of France is the first to associate the fight against trafficking of cannabis to the question of legalization. By 2003, in an interview with Liberation , he already felt that “the police had better things to do than run after the fumetti”. Eight years later, in the salons of the National Assembly, the minister becomes a member in Paris, repeats the same speech on the occasion of the presentation of a report on the subject: “We do access to a new law, we simply want to effectively fight against cannabis. ““We must legalize and regulate the production”
Daniel Vaillant knows whereof he speaks. At the request of Jean-Marc Ayrault, president of the group, he led a group of parliamentary deputies alongside Dominique PS Raimbourg and Annick Lepetit. Result of a reflection of more than fifteen months, the report notes the failure of the repressive policies and the cost it represents to our society (an annual sum of 3 billion euros according to Terra Nova). The conclusion is clear: we must legalize and regulate cannabis production.
